Francis Clark Managing Partner, Les Burnett, has received an Outstanding Achievement Award as an Innovative Leader by the Leading Edge Alliance, the second largest international professional association in the world with 190 members in more than 100 countries.
Les has been a partner at Francis Clark for over thirty years and managing partner since 1999. He has overseen huge growth in the firm that is now ranked 24th in the Accountancy Age Top 50 UK Chartered Accountancy practices.
Fellow partner Steve Collins said: “We decided to nominate Les without his knowledge because of the incomparable contribution he has made to the development of Francis Clark over the 14 years he has been managing partner. The figures showing continuous growth over this period in terms of personnel, partners, turnover and profit are impressive in their own right, but only tell one part of the reason we nominated Les for this award.
“More significant than numbers are the leadership qualities, the vision and culture Les has brought to Francis Clark and the way they have positively impacted on the firm’s development. He has also been very consistent in his approach to maintaining the values of the firm throughout its growth. He is managing partner because we all want him to be.”
Les Burnett commented: “To say I was surprised would be a huge understatement. I am delighted with this recognition but also humbled by the fact that my colleagues went to such lengths in putting me forward. The award is very welcome but I would emphasise that the success of Francis Clark is a matter of firm-wide culture and teamwork and I believe it reflects the quality of personnel we have at every level at Francis Clark.”
During Les Burnett’s stewardship, Francis Clark has effectively tripled in size and now has over 400 personnel and fees in excess of £25m. The firm has won five major national awards while awaiting the outcome of two more to be announced this month.
