Martin is in charge of managing the firm’s taxation knowledge and making it easily accessible to all taxation teams across the firm. He runs in-house and client training sessions and is involved in tax consultancy work.

Martin began his career as an Inspector of Taxes before working at two of the big four firms, based in Exeter. He then left full-time practice to become a lecturer on professional taxation courses at Thames Valley University, retaining contact with Exeter whilst carrying out tax consultancy work for a local firm of chartered accountants.

Martin eventually returned to working in Devon when he became a senior technical editor for specialist tax and business publishers, CCH Editions.

Five years ago he extended his professional output by becoming a teaching fellow at the University of Exeter, where he still works part time as a tax lecturer running a module on practical tax for second and third year accounting, finance and economics undergraduates which allows them to fast-track within the accountancy profession.
