David Armstrong FCA

David is undoubtably the most experienced and successful grant advisor based in the South West, having spent the last 15 years advising on grant applications.

During this time he has helped more than 100 companies ranging from start-ups to local, owner-managed businesses to locally based subsidiaries of some of the world’s largest companies, operating in most business sectors. He has extensive knowledge of a wide range of grant schemes, particularly Regional Development Agency Funding, Government Grant Schemes and European Funding. 

His well established approach to advising on grant applications together with excellent working relationships with all the main funding providers has resulted in David helping companies secure on average more than 90% of the grant applied for.

David's claims to fame include: -

• JDS Uniphase - securing £5.6m of grant funding towards the expansion of its facilities in Plymouth and which remains the largest grant offer for a manufacturing business in the South West in the last 10 years.
• King Harry Ferry - securing £1m of Objective One funding towards the cost of a new ferry.
• EBL Developments - securing the first offer of Objective One funding for a private sector company in Cornwall.
• Goonvean Limited - two successful applications totalling some £1.5m in total towards redevelopment of its Kaolin extraction facilities in Cornwall.

Since joining Francis Clark in July 2009 David has secured in excess of £3m of grant funding for a number of companies in amounts ranging from £300,000 to £1m. David has  wide Corporate Finance experience having worked on a range of transactions in recent years.
