New business goes from the deep end to the sharp end

A new South West business is one of the few that can truly claim Businesses to be at the sharp end of their sector but Supasharp is really at the cutting edge. Primarily aimed at the, hotel and restaurant industry. Supasharp has been established by former Royal Navy Submariner chef Neil Robinson to specialise in the re-sharpening of chefs’ knives and kitchen equipment. Following 21 years in the Navy, Neil Robinson successfully completed a Professional Bladesmith Course with the Frankland Grinding Company in Lancashire and is now capable of re-sharpening knives & kitchen equipment in many of the busy kitchens in the South West including private homes. Supasharp operates from a mobile unit containing the latest sharpening and honing machinery, enabling blades to be sharpened on site. This is especially attractive to chefs, who treasure their knives and are unwilling to send them away for sharpening.. The Supasharp service means that the blades never leave the premises and are back in service quickly. The service usually takes between 10 to 30 minutes per appointment, and is available throughout Devon and Cornwall. The service is available to businesses and private individuals. Neil started the business just six months ago, but already he has growing customer base with two to three new customers using the service every day. He said:  “Setting up the business and obtaining additional training is proving to be a successful way to use my skills outside the Navy. Customers are appreciating the personal service which takes place on their premises – a chef’s knife is precious to them and it is important that they can make the most of their equipment without the need to send them away to be sharpened.” Martin Atkins, new & growing business manager at Francis Clark who advised Neil Robinson on his start up, added: “Supasharp is an excellent example of a new business playing to strengths and making the most of a niche set of skills. We wish Neil well with his enterprise and we look forward to assisting him through future development.” Other commercial blade sharpening services from Supasharp include scissors and clippers for hairdressers, pet grooming tools, and gardening tools. More information is available by calling Neil on 07989 371927, by emailing him at supasharp@live.co.uk or by logging on at supasharp.net
