Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator, to provide an efficient, professional payroll service, as part of the Francis Clark Payroll Services (Torquay) team, which has in the region of 450 payroll clients across a wide range of industries and pay frequencies.

Responsibilities
  • Using SAGE payroll to run weekly, monthly and quarterly payrolls, for clients with up to 500 (or more) employees

  • Inputting and checking starters/leavers declarations, P45s, P6/9s, holiday pay, salaries, worked hours, overtime, expenses, mileage, bonus payments, statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP

  • Ensuring AEO deductions are applied accurately

  • Producing PAYE schedules for clients, calculating any deductions including student loans, employer’s allowance and CIS tax suffered

  • Sending completed auto-pay payment forms to banks

  • Auto Enrolment reconciliations and assessments using Sage AE module

  • Completing various forms required by HMRC, such as ‘letters of engagement’ and ‘authorising your agent’

  • Setting up new PAYE schemes with HMRC, plus in-house client files in both electronic and paper format

  • Carrying out RTI year-end procedures, including issuing declarations for client signature and P60s

  • Providing advice to clients in relation to pay, taxation and National Insurance issues

  • Resolving queries and keeping the Payroll Manager briefed on any significant client issues or unresolved matters

  • Supporting payroll services marketing effort, as directed by the Payroll Manager/ Partner

Knowledge, skills and attributes
  • Experience of operating multiple payrolls, possibly gained over several years in a similar position

  • Experience in SAGE Payroll (or similar)

  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) and experience in the payment of sub-contractors

  • AAT Certificate in Payroll Administration (or equivalent) is desirable

  • Computer literate, with an aptitude towards spreadsheets and word processing

Training
  • On the job training in the early stages, but with further training identified and supported through our annual development and performance review process
